Who is Veritas ?Veritas is a grassroots organization of young adults committed to the promotion of the culture of life, especially by protecting the unborn from the evil of abortion and educating youth on God’s plan for human sexuality. We believe that life is an inalienable right granted to all of humanity by our Creator. We know that without the right to life, no other human right truly exists. Furthermore, we know that a true conception of human sexuality and the family is an indispensible foundation of a healthy society. We are located in south east Michigan. Veritas Announcement 5/1/2012Dear friends,Members of Veritas met and discussed the strengths and weaknesses of Veritas, and what its future might hold. We discussed the possibility of ending the group. During the course of our meeting we came to believe that the Lord may be calling us to re-found Veritas as a prayer group that aggressively prays against the culture of death. We would not have an official membership, but instead have a publicized monthly (7-8:30pm) prayer meeting at a Church (potentially in front of the exposed Blessed Sacrament). We would pray for peace, the unborn, the conversion of sinners, for families, and that the Lord would crush the works of the devil and the other architects of the culture of death, and of everyone who cooperates with them. We would still schedule times to pray in front of Womancare, but any other future pro-life/pro-family activity we would discern carefully, letting it flow "naturally" from our prayer. (I guess I should say, "flow supernaturally from our prayer.")While we are still trying to set up a Church to host our prayer group (we're probably going to have it in the Dearborn area), we will have a prayer meeting on Friday, May11th in Dearborn (If you are interested in coming please reply reply in the "Contact Us" link on this top menu bar so we can get your further details . Future meetings we expect to have on the second Fridays of each month (though this is open to revision).I think that this is a great direction for the group to take, especially in the face of lessened involvement and activity. It is a principle of the faith that without Christ, we can do nothing. It is also a principle the faith that our fight is not ultimately against flesh and blood, but against the principalities and powers of this age - the demonic spirits that oppose the rule of Christ in the world. Therefore, in the fight against the culture of death, we must be like soldiers who work in lock step with our commanding officers (the Angels and Saints), under the Commander-in-Chief (Jesus Christ). Everything we do must be done in cooperation with them, for they are attuned to the real battle in ways that we are oblivious to. I think it's best, then, through prayer, to join them in the battle they are already fighting, and then await any additional orders from them.Thank you,
